It's great in VR

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

XDBX League Hillclimb Intro Special Event

https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/leagues/league/102999/xdbx-casual

Vehicle Class: Hillclimb

Vehicle: Peugeot 205 T16 Pikes Peak

Events: 2 (Pikes Peak Sectors, Pikes Peak Full Course)

Event 1 - Pikes Peak (3 sectors): 08:00 UTC June 28th - 07:45 UTC July 5th

Event 2 - Pikes Peak (full course): 08:00 UTC July 5th - 08:00 UTC July 12th

This is the Hillclimb intro season I promised a while back and it will fill the gap between now and Season 4 of the XDBX League (letting everyone concentrate on the World Cup in peace). The only Hillclimb available in DiRT Rally is the Pikes Peak course and we'll first get more familiar with it's 3 sectors in Event 1, before we move on to the full course in Event 2. For this intro event we'll be running the all-gravel version of the course (other options would be all-tarmac or mixed-surface). You'll have a week to run each event and there will be no break in-between. Setups and practice runs are available and if I remember correctly, each stage consists of 2 runs, so if the first one goes wrong, you can skip to the second run right away if you wish. I recommend making the most out of the practice runs. We're using only the Peugeot 205 T16 Pikes Peak hillclimb car for now.

To get some idea of the Pikes Peak hillclimb, I have this video for you (in another car and in different conditions):

Season 4 will be in the Ford Escort RS Cosworth (Group A) and will start on either the 14th or 21st of July, after we finish with the Hillclimb intro.

Season 5 will be using the R4 vehicle class and Season 6 will depend on a vote.

As always, new members can join the league at the link below the title of this post, but make sure you log in using your PSN Account or RaceNet account first and set your platform at the top right of the page to PlayStation 4 (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) before going to the "Leagues" page! You can also search for "XDBX Casual" league and then join that way.

All done. Didn't like not having a co-driver, and as a result was cocking up pretty much every corner, so I mainly just fucked around after the first round.  Ended up with a pretty shit time :D

Well my time is better than @LimeGreenLegend. And judging by his time he did plenty of fuckery after the 1st stage

Less than 10 hrs left to run the 1st Hillclimb event! The 2nd (full course) will start pretty much right after the 1st event.

A few more important pieces of information:

  • Keep in mind there is a countdown timer for these DiRT Rally League events on the main page as there are for our GTA events.
  • RaceNET has had a change of terms of service and privacy policy, so if you're having trouble accessing the game or the account, it might be because you've yet to accept the new terms. Here's the message I got when I logged in:

When is the new season starting?

Yes, sorry about the delay.

Just need to compile the last 2 of 5 events and it's ready to go. I can set it up by tomorrow morning and the season will start on Saturday morning that way, if everyone is okay with that.

XDBX League Season 4

https://www.dirtgame.com/uk/leagues/league/102999/xdbx-casual

portugal-1993-delecour-enfin_articlethum

Vehicle Class: Group A

Vehicle: Ford Escort RS Cosworth

Events: 5 (Sweden, Finland, Monte Carlo, Wales, Germany)

Event 1 - Rally Sweden (6 stages): 08:00 UTC July 21st - 08:00 UTC July 27th

Event 2 - Rally Finland (6 stages): 08:00 UTC July 28th - 08:00 UTC Aug 3rd

Event 3 - Rally Monte Carlo (6 stages): 08:00 UTC Aug 4th - 08:00 UTC Aug 10th

Event 4 - Rally Wales (6 stages): 08:00 UTC Aug 11th - 08:00 UTC Aug 17th

Event 5 - Rally Germany (6 stages): 08:00 UTC Aug 18th - 08:00 UTC Aug 24th

Season 4 kicks off tomorrow, Saturday July 21st in the legendary Group A rally car Ford Escort RS Cosworth. We see the returns of both Sweden and Germany to the rally calendar for this season. Sweden is here to offer a cool digital sanctuary from the heatwaves of July and Rally Finland & Rally Germany will land on the same weekends as the real WRC events at the same locations this year, so you can watch the WRC live and then try out the events yourself in the XDBX League afterwards! (sort of)

As last season, every event/round lasts for precisely 6 days, from 8am UTC every Saturday to 8am UTC every Friday, over the course of 5 weeks, with there being a 24hr cool-down period between events. You can save your progress after each stage in every event, so you could do 1 stage per day or divide them differently over the 6 days or do them all at once if you want, etc, etc.

This season I will share my tested and refined car setups for every event at the start of each event to (hopefully) help anyone who might be having trouble setting up their car.

Event 1 of Season 4 is LIVE! It's time for a cold & snowy Rally Sweden in the middle of a hot, hot summer to help us all cool down.

The main settings of this event and all the remaining ones are the same as usual:

  • No restarts or second tries
  • Access to service area and vehicle setup before and after every 2 stages (before Stage 1, before Stage 3 & before Stage 5 of each event)
  • Progress is saved/can be saved after each stage
  • Remember to use the Shakedown (x10) to try out any setup changes you make before Stage 1 of each event!

Tips for Sweden:

  • Best way to tackle the corners here is to slide through them. Braking a little earlier than you'd want to will help you avoid getting caught in the snowbanks and slide through the turns more effectively. The very sharp turns (1, square, acute) will require even earlier braking.
  • If you're braking late for a turn and heading for a bank, try using the handbrake to turn the nose away from the bank.
  • Vehicle stability, smooth handling and the right suspension settings are key to driving fast and clean in the snow.
  • If you end up facing the wrong way between the narrow snowbanks after a spin or a crash, accelerate forward for a second or two and then use the handbrake to do a quick 180.
  • Big jumps can be lethal on the narrow and slippery snowy roads, so take caution!

My setup for the Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Sweden (text+video):

Nr = amount of ticks/clicks       + = to the right from default setting      - = to the left from default setting

(NOT MENTIONING THE SETTINGS THAT REMAIN AT DEFAULT)

Brake Bias -4

Viscous Differential (Front) +2

Viscous Differential (Centre) -4 & Torque Bias +4

Viscous Differential (Rear) -2

Gears -8

Suspension (Front): Ride Height +3, Spring Rate +1, Anti-Roll Bar -1, Camber Angle +2, Toe Angle +2

Damping (Front): Rebound +2 & Fast Rebound +2

Suspension (Rear): Ride Height +3, Spring Rate +1, Anti-Roll Bar -1

Damping (Rear): Rebound +1 & Fast Rebound +2

Finished the first event.  Really enjoyed Sweden, was as fun as Wales.  I also used your suggested setup @Protocawl and it seemed to work really well.

Here's a video of stage 5, at night in the snow, with the perspective of the vr and the cinematic replay.

Managed to finish the event in 30 minutes 30 seconds and some change.  I think that's a pretty good time for me, I didn't have many crashes.  Hope to finish high-mid table :)

Finished.

Was a good challenge, a 180 spin was the only mistake.

I wasn't able to save and exit after each stage, despite there being a checkpoint, probably since service is every 2 stages. Not a problem as I prefer doing 2 stages back-to-back.

34:13. Thanks Proto for the setup info. I think it helped a lot but the steering was a little too sensitive. How can I change that?
