Video of Rally Monte Carlo:

3 days & 20 hours left to run Event 4: Rally Wales!

Tips for Wales:

  • Control your speed. Wales is usually not very forgiving if you go way too fast through any turn, so going flat out in a place where you're not meant to be going flat out will most likely cost you dearly.
  • If your co-driver says "Don't Cut", then Don't Cut! (and sometimes even when he doesn't say it)
  • Don't forget your emergency escape mechanisms: handbrake (for sharp turns) & recover vehicle (from the in-game menu if things go very south)!

My setup for the Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Wales (text+video):

Nr = amount of ticks/clicks       + = to the right from default setting      - = to the left from default setting

(NOT MENTIONING THE SETTINGS THAT REMAIN AT DEFAULT)

Brake Bias -3 & Brake Strength +1

Viscous Differential (Centre) -1 & Torque Bias +2

Viscous Differential (Rear) -2

Gears -3

Suspension (Front): Ride Height +4, Anti-Roll Bar -2, Camber Angle +2, Toe Angle +2

Damping (Front): Bump -1, Fast Bump -2, Rebound +3, Fast Rebound +4

Suspension (Rear): Ride Height +4, Anti-Roll Bar -1, Toe Angle -2

Damping (Rear): Bump -1, Fast Bump -2, Rebound +3, Fast Rebound +4

Rolled twice on the 4th and got stuck on something on the 6th. Rookie errors

Easily 40s lost.

Best of luck, the win is definitely there for the taking.

I had another retirement. I’m gonna change my nickname to Mr. Retirements, suits me perfectly -_-

I used to retire very often, too, so I got tired of it and changed my approach - started putting the car's health and finishing stages cleanly first instead of going super fast and it worked. My rally retirement rate went down massively. I still crash plenty, but even that rate dropped noticeably and the results have improved as a result, too. Sometimes going slower is necessary. I recommend sacrificing a bit of that speed to finish rallies again and then build up to going faster again without having to retire so often. ;)

Smooth is fast, I always make finishing a priority, otherwise you get nothing :)

If you're playing track racing games as well, it can be hard to make the transition quickly as the driving style is totally different.

I left myself about 34 mins to run Rally Wales and due to rushing, messed up pretty bad, starting right before the 3rd split of Stage 2. Eventually there was no time left to run Stage 6 and Stage 5 was run without any lights in the dark. Stage 1 was probably one of the best results in Wales that I've ever had, but everything else went spectacularly wrong. Stage 1, 2 and 5 are definitely very entertaining to watch, though. See for yourself:

5 days & 14 hours left to run Event 5: Rally Germany!

This event is running simultaneously with the actual WRC Rally Germany, so watch the real thing to get in the mood and then get behind the console to try it out yourself!

Tips for Germany:

  • Stay on the roads and don't cut!
  • Pay close attention to the rocks bordering the roads to avoid them.
  • Many (smooth) turns can be taken by just letting off the throttle a bit. No need to brake more than you need to in Germany; just brake properly for sharp turns.
  • Don't forget the handbrake in an emergency if the car refuses to turn properly!

My setup for the Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Germany (text+video):

Nr = amount of ticks/clicks       + = to the right from default setting      - = to the left from default setting

(NOT MENTIONING THE SETTINGS THAT REMAIN AT DEFAULT)

Brake Bias -2 & Brake Strength +1

Gears: 1st Gear -5, 2nd Gear -4, 3rd Gear -3, 4th Gear -2, 6th Gear +4, 7th Gear +4

Suspension (Front): Ride Height -2, Spring Rate +3, Anti-Roll Bar +3

Suspension (Rear): Ride Height -2, Spring Rate +3, Anti-Roll Bar +2

Finished Germany. Mistakes everywhere, big ones.

Should be enough to get the championship win, so no harm done.

Best of luck!

Oh and fuck the 7 speed box on this car!

Very nice overall time, Proto. Probably faster than mine even without the mistakes.

Was probably the best result of any event I've ever had so far in DiRT Rally. Quite clean overall, but still made some costly mistakes on a few stages.

I had one very costly mistake. Other than that I was very happy with the times so far. Still need much improvement but am getting the hang of it.

Season 4 has finished!

There are some issues with getting the video uploaded today, but I'll get the video and results posted here before Monday. There will also be a period for some feedback after that and all the info regarding the upcoming Season 5, which will most likely start in almost 2 weeks from now.

Well I'm quite pleased with 3rd for Thur season behind the promoter who runs all the stages in advance and mega fast guy @DavidCore89. My slow but steady pace paid off.

Well done, Beez! You've definitely been the most consistent of us all so far and that's what matters most in rally. Finishing rallies consistently at a good pace brings results. ;)

Very nice, this was fun even though my driving was horrible haha.

Sorry for missing the last rally, I was out of town for a week.

Looking forward to the next season!!

Feedback time! Please answer the following questions:

  1. Before Season 4 I mentioned that in Season 5 we would be using the R4 class (the 4WD Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X/Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2011). Is everyone excited for that class or would you like to see some other (specific) class instead? Other drivetrain classes (RWD/FWD)? Potential options: 1970s[RWD] (Opel Kadett GT/E 16v/Fiat 131 Abarth/Ford Escort Mk II/Lancia Stratos) OR 1960s[FWD] (Mini Cooper S/Lancia Fulvia HF) OR 2010s[4WD] (Mini Countryman Rally Edition/Ford Fiesta RS Rally/Volkswagen Polo Rally/Hyundai i20 Rally)
  2. How did you feel about the Ford Escort RS Cosworth (4WD) in Season 4?
  3. Were any of the hints/tips/setups I shared with you this last season of any help to you? Do you want me to post more of my setups in the future?
  4. Is there anything you'd like to see done differently in future seasons or any other general feedback regarding the League?

1. Happy to run R4's, but 70's or 80's RWD classes are more fun, and a little more unforgiving.

2. Escort was alright, I just prefer a whole class to choose from.

1. R4 class is a good choice. I have never raced them in Dirt but like the cars irl a lot!

2. Escort was nice to drive. Agree with @DavidCore89 on the number of choices.

3. Used your set ups partially. Really nice of you to share them. To be honest. I wouldnt figure that all out myself?

4. Its fine the way it is right now.?

1. I think I would prefer the 2010 cars but it’s all good if we go with the R4 class.

2. I didn’t like the car. The gearbox is awful.

3. Yes keep posting your setups. I am learning how to make my own setups so for me it will be good so I can compare them.

4. All good.
