OUT NOW:
THE CAYO PERICO HEIST

Discover Offshore Riches in GTA Online’s Biggest Update Ever

Robbing the biggest bank in the country? Been there. Raiding the casino’s vaults? Done that. Infiltrating the heavily guarded private party island of the ruthless drug lord El Rubio? Now you’re talking. Leave behind the lights of Los Santos for the sands of Cayo Perico and your biggest heist yet.

The Cayo Perico Heist is the largest and most ambitious Grand Theft Auto Online adventure to date. Playable from start to finish either as a lone operator or with up to three other players, discover dozens of ways to infiltrate and heist a brand-new location for the ultimate score. Your journey begins with an introduction to a new contact found at the Los Santos nightlife scene’s latest attraction…

MEET AT THE MUSIC LOCKER

If you are bound to meet anyone in The Music Locker’s uber-exclusive VIP section, it is Miguel Madrazo, club-rat son of Martin and Patricia and heir to the family’s empire. As he is prone to telling anyone within shouting distance, Miguel would do anything to defend the family’s “brand.”

It appears the Madrazo crime family is having some disagreements with El Rubio, so they’re looking for someone experienced to raid his near-impenetrable fortress, outmaneuver high-priced guards and high-tech security, and make off with some important files.

THE ISLAND OF CAYO PERICO

El Rubio prefers to hide out on Cayo Perico, his heavily fortified private party island, far away from the friendly and familiar confines of Los Santos.

With all the constant beach-side raving and free-flowing drugs from the nearby crops, the island would look like a trendy resort-turned-festival, were it not for the paid henchmen standing around holding assault rifles.

Miguel has a seat on a private jet filled with DJs bound for Cayo Perico – this is your chance to infiltrate and scope out one of the most secure strongholds money can buy. Once there, slink away from the party to locate the compound where the files are stored. While you’re avoiding armed guards and security cameras, make note of any weaknesses like hidden entrances, exit points or other security flaws that may come in handy later on. Keep a low profile and gather as much information as you can to increase your chances of success when the time comes.

TAKING DOWN EL RUBIO

Unlike previous Heists, there is no specific style when it comes to approaching Cayo Perico.

Once you’ve gathered the necessary gear, you can choose to complete as much (or as little) set-up and planning as you want – though be warned that these decisions will, in turn, affect the way the action unfolds. If you want to call in an airstrike or use a cutting torch to burn through steel beams, for example, you would be well advised to put the time in beforehand.

Once all the groundwork is laid down, you can nail down your final details before approaching Cayo Perico. These choices include how you infiltrate and escape the island, your weapons loadouts, air support, and even the operation’s time of day. As a result, no two approaches are alike on subsequent playthroughs. And repeat visits will allow you to heist valuable artifacts and other valuables as they become available.

There is also a load of extra opportunities you can use to play to your advantage, such as breaking into storage lockups to raid hidden stashes of cash and contraband to bolster your bottom-line and fatten up your take. These chances and the tools necessary to complete them will rarely be found in the same place twice – some are only accessible when playing with multiple players, so joining up with friends is very much encouraged.

SOLO PLAY

The Cayo Perico Heist is the first Heist that is playable completely solo from start to finish. Take on stealth recon, high octane shootouts and the epic score alone or team up with a Heist crew for extra support. Crack and take down the island of Cayo Perico any way you like.

THE KOSATKA SUBMARINE

What better headquarters for plotting the elaborate offshore raid on a private tropical island than a decommissioned nuclear submarine?

Manned by Pavel, a former Soviet helmsman driven half-insane by his time spent under the waves, the Kosatka has everything you might need to plot a successful landing, including a bridge with a Heist Planning Screen; personal quarters for outfit changes; a mess hall, a brig, torpedo defenses, plus options to install a Mk II Weapons Workshop and Guided Missiles, and a Moon Pool that allows you to store vehicles like the new Sparrow helicopter and Kraken Avisa submersible to use however you see fit.

The Kosatka is navigable around the shores of Southern San Andreas, and with so many smugglers trafficking goods across the sea, there’s always cargo falling overboard. The optional Sonar Station can help find Hidden Caches strewn about the ocean floor for additional rewards. Don’t feel guilty about stealing contraband… feel smug about cleaning the ocean floor instead.

NEW MUSIC

The Music Locker is kicking things off proper with Moodymann headlining as the club’s debut resident DJ.

Your connections in the hospitality industry may request assistance in making Moodymann’s stay in Los Santos as memorable as possible. If you take on this responsibility, you’re sure to be well compensated. Keep an eye on The Music Locker, the party continues to expand next week with new Resident DJs along with new missions for each.

Along with the new party venues, the Cayo Perico Heist update brings with it new radio stations: K.U.L.T. 99.1 FM, hosted by Julian Casablancas. Plus, Gilles Peterson and Flying Lotus have curated playlist updates for Worldwide FM and FlyLo FM, respectively.

Drivers in the Mirror Park area of Los Santos, meanwhile, might hear rogue transmissions from Joy Orbison’s pirate radio project, Still Slipping Los Santos. If you do, do not touch that dial. Keep an eye (and ear) out for busted radio antennae around the city that you can repair to help bring Still Slipping Los Santos to the masses.

Everyone who jumps in to play this week will receive the Yellow Still Slipping Tee to telegraph their good music taste to all.

CIVILIST & MISBHV

Los Santos has always been an iconic hub for fashion, from the high-end designer style in Rockford Hills to the streetwear in Mirror Park. Clothing stores are being hit with brand new labels Civilist and MISBHV this week for ravers and criminals alike.

NEW VEHICLES, WEAPONS AND MORE

Beyond the Kosatka submarine and the vehicles available for its Moon Pool, there’s also a range of new vehicle inventory available to Los Santos residents, including:

  • Annihilator Stealth
  • RO-86 Alkonost
  • Pegassi Toreador
  • Vapid Winky
  • Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat
  • sh*tzu Longfin

And thanks to the GTA Online community successfully walking away with over GTA$1 Trillion dollars in Heist takes during The Heist Challenge, GTA Online players will receive a free Dinka Veto Classic go-kart as a gift between Friday, December 18th and Sunday, December 20th. Be sure to log in and play to claim it this weekend to get yours.

There are also new and powerful weapons, including a bullpup-style Military Rifle available from Ammu-Nation. You can also recover a high-powered Combat Shotgun while taking down the Heist Finale, which unlocks it in Ammu-Nation to add to your arsenal.

Rumor has it, El Rubio’s got a special pistol that’s as deadly as it is decadent. Rumor also has it, no one knows where on Cayo Perico he keeps it locked away…

The Cayo Perico Heist marks a new era for Heists in GTA Online and we are celebrating with a slew of perks and bonuses for a limited time, including a free Dinka Veto Classic for everyone to whip around in, new clothing awards and a special jacket for those who participated in last month’s Community Heist Challenge and so much more.

Only Warstock vehicles and another boat are available from the start, rest of the cars are going to be drip fed.

I've seen 2 so far, Brioso Classic and VW Beetle (in R* newswire article).

That Sports Classics car from the poster, Pegassi Toreador, is like the Stromberg, can go under water and fire torpedos. And it's expensive as f*ck, so unless it has other features I'm not intetested.

New vehicles:

Winky - jeep, $825.000/$1.100.000

Kurtz 31 - patrol boat, $2.216.250/$2.955.000

RO-86 Alkonost - bomber, $3.262.500/$4.350.000

Anihilator Stealth - helicopter, $2.902.500/$3.870.000

Toreador - submersible, $3.660.000

Longfin - speedboat, $1.593.750/$2.125.000

Kosatka - submarine, basic model costs $2.200.000

upgrades:

Color, $75.000

Sonar, $1.200.000

Missiles, $1.900.000

Weapon workshop, $350.000

Moon pool vehicles:

Sparrow (helicopter), $1.850.000

Kraken AVISA (submersible), $1.545.000

TOTAL: $9.085.000

We should start mapping out the POI locations (Weed, coke, money, gold, poison...)

First we need a blank map lol. I'll try to make one out of screenshots.

Very little cars are also going to be drip fed.

Both previously mentioned, Brioso Classic and VW Beetle, a new Grotti Sports car, 2 gokarts (1 will be a gift), another Slam truck and probably 3 vehicles already on the island, but not (yet) purchasable, another Manchez bike, Humvee and transport truck.

That's it! That's the "BIGGEST" update. Really dissapointing when it comes to vehicles.

Well, these are the vehicles that will be released over the next X weeks:

Brofi rambles a lot (as usual), but he gets a lot of info through eventually.

Basically, watch for that Grotti Itali RSX, probably a must buy car for racing.

Brioso 300 and Weevil are on my to buy list as well (because ... compacts!), maybe even the kart if they are fun to race with.

Then I'm most likely done with buying anything more from this DLC. Not even $20M in total. 😐

Could actually get to 20 if I buy the Stromberg MkII.

Don't swim too close to the submarine (in waves) or you'll get stuck to it. I couldn't move away from it and eventually had to change sessions (and do the mission again).

Yeah, still pretty glitchy. Posted this in the shoutbox too but I did heists and scoping with @RammsteinDUDE@DavidCore89and @Lann yesterday evening. I think Ramm got stuck a lot.
At one point I had an option to contaminate the water from the compound, while standing under the watertower. But when I did that my character rocketed straight up and died in what appeared to be the inside of the watertank of the tower. Saved a video so should be able to share it later today...

Had the same thing multiple times, got stuck under water to, I drowned and respawned in the middle of the city somewhere.

When I spawned my submarine it sometimes got launched in to the air and it kept going underwater and up the air a few meters, if I tried landing on it I died instantly and my character got shot away lol.

It's laggy as f*ck so far.

Btw if you do the heist try to be stealthy as long as possible or your in for a hard time.

Oh definitely. This heist is so much harder than the Casino ones. Armor of NPC's seems to be more than before. And they only need to shoot you a few times before you die. I was using up all my armour in the heist. The NPC's are much more aggressive. And that was on normal mode!

You can do optional preps to take away their armor, air support and reduce the NPC firepower.

Not sure how much it helps.

From this video it does seem to help alot to weaken them.

I've found a key on a dead person in freemode, which gave me a notification that I can use this small key to open a secret safe during the heist. The dead person was marked on the map as a random event, no idea yet where this secret safe might be.

Jeez, going around the island once the guards are alerted is a mess, making your way ti compound or escaping.

Guards spawning out of nowhere practically, in the middle of the jungle if necessary. Inside the compound isn't that hard, as theres plenty of cover and defined routes.

Managed to make my way into the compound fine with the help of guard clothing and supply truck, was doing just fine inside too, even smacked that Juggernaut in the face with a pistol. But those double kills are tricky solo, easy to miss the second shot as the guy slightly ducks usually. Used the helicopter support to get through the gates, but then the mess started. Countless restarts, picking up Madrazzo files all over the place, getting stuck in the bushes, guards spawning everywhere....

No idea how many tries it took, but finally managed to drive away in a dinghy and then luckily found a Dodo plane near the end of the runway and flew into the sunset.

Took me all afternoon basically. 😬

Git Gud! hahahaha

I shallt be attempting all that for the first time later today. Luckily, some snow is coming to my area and I already have the day off tomorrow, so it should be fun. I logged in last night to download the dlc and then I had to IRL stuff cancel my plans. But I did end up watching some vids of people doing the heist solo and as hard as it appeared, i loved it. It reminded me of the tough survival maps Dodge and I created with all the enemies spawning everywhere!

Had my Submarine set as an Escape plan, but it was nowhere to be seen. I'm guessing even Pavel gave up on me midway through and said f*ck this guy and sailed home, leaving me on my own. 😂

Btw, does Pavel remind anyone else of Spinnaker? Guess it must be his tone of voice or something. 😂

But we like Pavel.

So this is what I've learned so far about the different types of secondary loot:

Cash - around $90,000 - takes up 25% bag space

Weed - around $150,000 - takes up around 30/35% bag space

Cocaine - around $220,000  - takes up 50% bag space

Painting - around $180,000 - takes up 50% bag space

Gold - around $ 320,000 - takes up around 60/65% bag space

As my primary target I got so far:

Madrazo Files (first for everyone) - worth $1,100,000

Sinsimito Tequila - worth $990,000

Ruby Necklace - worth $1,100,000

The small key I was talking about will grant you acces to a locked drawer inside El Rubio's office, the drawer is attached to the desk in the office. If you open this you get a golden pistol which you can keep forever 🙂 There's also a safe you can open in his office (left-back corner when exiting the elevator), which hold around 100k. This additional money doesn't take up space in your bag so it's worth taking it.

I enjoy the heist so far and still exploring a lot.
