Crew Challenge 265 – Make your own way

Crew Challenge 365 – Make your own way
A solo time trial challenge, sort of like a short Gfred or one of the R* pursuit races. It's a P2P race with the check points spread out. You have to work out your own route from one to the next. I have restricted this to a few slow-ish cars in a various classes that all have about the same time on Broughy's test track. Leave the settings as they are, choose any class but don't change it from "restricted". I think we all probably have one of them for sure, but I included a few other options incase you don't or do and don't want to use it.

Survive the Hunt 5
Come and join us in Survive the Hunt, where the aim is to... Well... Survive the hunt! Wednesday 7th of September 20:00 UK time on PS5 or PS4 depending where the most players are. Starting from the parking lot next to the the Xero Gas warehouse near LSIA.
What is Survive The Hunt?
Essentially, Survive The Hunt is a freeroam game mode where one player is "hunted" by 8+ other players. There is no radar, HUD or name-tags in order to make this a bit more interesting. While there is no set tactic, the most popular and effective one is for the hunted player to "blend in" with the game AI - either on foot or in a car. This means obeying traffic laws, following the road at an AI-ish pace, stopping at traffic lights etc. The hunters can employ a similar tactic to attempt to locate and then ambush the hunted player. Communication is essential for the hunters to work effectively together.

Rules:
Radar, player names & the HUD must be turned off.
All players must stay within the city limits at all times. This area is defined on the map below.
The hunted person has a two minute head-start on the hunters.
Weapons may NOT be used whilst in a vehicle. They can only be used on foot. The idea behind this is that it makes chases a bit more interesting than just head-shotting someone the second they're spotted.
Any type of explosive weapon is banned.
One helicopter is allowed to be used by the hunters. It cannot use any weapons and must not have missiles (to stop cheating using missile lock).
Any type of weaponized or special vehicle is banned as well as any Sports Classic quicker then the Savestra (Like the Retinue Mk II, Viseris & Turismo Classic), all Sports, all Supers & the Buffalo STX or quicker.
The hunted player may not camp or hide inside buildings, underground areas or in car parks.
They are allowed to briefly stop, but for no longer than a couple of minutes. This does not mean that they are not allowed to drive through road tunnels - they can, as long as they do not stay there for extended periods of time.
The hunted player should not be in the party or voice chat with the hunters.
New Rule 1: The host will give a specific location every few minutes. Time depended on the amount of people attending.
New Rule 2: The Hunted must wear very bright clothes. Preferably the green alien suit if attainable.
New Rule 3: All Electric/Hybrid vehicles are banned.

This month the film club was open choice, and the first of the two films selected is Radu Jude's confrontational and explicit Bad Luck Banging or Loony p*rn.
This film stars Katia Pascariu as teacher Emi whose s*x tape that she makes with her husband is somehow leaked online. Kids in her class see it and she is quickly summoned before a group of teachers and parents who are to decide if she's fit to be a teacher. Told in three distinct acts, this is the very definition of confrontational cinema, with it opening with the McGuffin of a s*x tape in all of its glory.
But the real meat of the film is the meeting to decide Emi's fate, things getting more and more heated as Emi's s*x life and her moral fibre are thrust into the spotlight as if it's anyone else's business.
Like I said in the main film club post, some of you may not want to see what is ostensibly amateur p*rnography, so I'll make that warning very clear now:
!WARNING! This film contains scenes of graphic, un-simulated, real f*cking, with er*ct c*ck and full p*netration and oral s*x and all of that stuff. You have been warned. !WARNING END!

Our second film for this month's double feature is @omarcomin71's nomination of the recent western, Old Henry.
The film stars the always excellent Tim Blake Nelson in a rare leading role. He plays the titular character, a widowed farm owner who must protect it, and his sons, from local outlaws. Not having even heard of this film, let alone seen it, I don't have much to say, so here are some quotes from favourable reviews.
From TheWrap, Steve Pond said he wished parts of the film were "more expansive" but overall described it as a "beautiful elegy" with a finale that feels "just right." Writing for The Hollywood Reporter, David Rooney described the direction of the film as a "well-crafted exercise in old-fashioned but durable genre tropes" that later "evolves into a satisfying reflection on the more complicated, somber realities behind the icons of the Wild West."
I'm always up for a bit of western action, and I can't wait to check this out. But it better be good @omarcomin71😉

A two player team time trial using 2 of the new R* Cayo Perico Races. One teammate in a custom sports car race on a dirt track, the other taking a Blazer Aqua. The sports cars are restricted to those appropriate for dirt (the Issi Sport is probably going to be fastest anyway). For the Blazer Aqua race it will be customs off, unless everyone doing this race tells me they have a custom. I assume most people do not have one.

Crew Challenge 263 - Triathlon
A single player time trial, a point-to-point Triathlon race using transform check points. You start on foot, dive into the water, swim through the CP getting out at some steps. There is transform CP to a bike at the top of the steps. Cycle through the next series of CPs before transforming back to on on-foot for the last few.
No special equipment is allowed; it could give an advantage when swimming. So no scuba gear, no re-breathers, no flippers etc. Just normal clothes. Choose any bike you can can, they are just different colours. Weather and time of day should be locked. Must be done non-contact if racing with others.
The whole race should take well under 4 minutes. First person may help, but that is up to you.

We will determine who has the best car before we start a playlist to determine the best Criminal Racer!
We will race the currently released cars from the Criminal enterprises Update (or updated cars). Each race will feature only one of the cars so we can all try them out equally.

This month we are celebrating the work of the legendary Mel Brooks by watching one of his films, namely Young Frankenstein, as nominated by @djw180.
Gene Wilder stars as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of the infamous mad scientist who re-animated a corpse. After inheriting his estate, Frederick takes up his grandfather's work and makes a monster of his own (the brilliant Peter Boyle). This is peak Brooks, with the jokes coming thick and fast - the first joke happens before a single word is said, just count how many times the clock tolls over the opening credits - all delivered perfectly by an incredible supporting cast including Marty Feldman, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars and a brilliant cameo from Gene Hackman.
Released the same year as Blazing Saddles, this represents a high point in Brooks's film career and is one of the great comedy films of all time. I'm gonna have a blast re-watching this!

Crew Challenge 261 – Gang Attack, Non-automatic.

Crew Challenge 261 – Gang Attack – Non-automatic
A solo challenge. Do any gang attack using only hand guns, but automatics, lasers, etc are not allowed.
Most kills with bonuses for special kills wins (lose points if you die). Fastest time as tie breaker, and there's a good chance of a tie, so videos are required.
Rules
Any gang attack
Must be done solo
Only weapons allowed are those in the pistol / revolver slot of the weapon wheel
AP pistol and those that do not fire bullets are not allowed
only standard ammo allowed, no explosive or other special rounds
mele kills with your hand gun are allowed
Armour, BPH, eating snacks are all allowed, but no other special equipment.
Save a video ending after the final number of kills and special kills has been shown.
Timing will start from when the "gang attack" message appears and finish when "gang attack PASSED" appears
Scoring
1 point for each kill, as shown on screen after completion
1 extra point for each head shot, point blank or any other specific type of kill the screen specifies.
-5 pts for every time you die
I think most people should know where to find gang attacks by now, but note they don't all have the same number of enemies. Those that have 30 will obviously have the highest potential scores for this challenge.

Only weapons allowed are those in the pistol / revolver slot of the weapon wheel
AP pistol and those that do not fire bullets are not allowed
only standard ammo allowed, no explosive or other special rounds
mele kills with your hand gun are allowed
Armour, BPH, eating snacks are all allowed, but no other special equipment.
Save a video ending after the final number of kills and special kills has been shown.
Timing will start from when the "gang attack" message appears and finish when "gang attack PASSED" appears
Scoring
1 point for each kill, as shown on screen after completion
1 extra point for each head shot, point blank or any other specific type of kill the screen specifies.
-5 pts for every time you die
I think most people should know where to find gang attacks by now, but note they don't all have the same number of enemies. Those that have 30 will obviously have the highest potential scores for this challenge.

This month we're delving into the filmography of Oscar winning director Danny Boyle thanks to @Con's nomination. His is an incredibly varied filmography, from gritty drama to Bollywood musical through to sci-fi and feel-good family fare he's pretty much done it all. The film we'll be watching, nominated by @djw180, is a biopic, that of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, also the title of the film.
Written by Aaron Sorkin of The West Wing fame, Steve Jobs stars Michael Fassbender in the title role. The film covers the period in his life from 1984 up to the release of the iMac in 1998. It co-stars Kate Winslet as Apple marketing exec Joanna Hoffman, Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Jeff Daniels as Apple CEO John Sculley. I've not seen this so I don't have much more to say, but I have seen David Fincher's The Social Network, about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook, and I really enjoyed that even though it plays like a super-villain origin story. I don't know if that will be a useful comparison to have in my head when watching this, but it's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this film.
Boyle himself is kind of hit-or-miss for me. There are films of his I love - Sunshine is an amazing sci-fi film - but when he misses I find his films kind of boring (The Beach, Yesterday). But I do like more of his films than I don't and have high expectations of this film thanks to the writer and the stellar cast.

Mystery Car June 2022 (PS4)

Come and join us for Mystery Car on Wednesday 15th of June at 20:00 British time. We will start out in free roam at the Burger Shot parking lot from where we will have to follow the clues to find the Mystery Car. Once the car is revealed we will all buy it if needed, modify it, then spend the night racing it.
The price of the car will be less than $100k so don't worry about having to spend millions to join in.
The usual rules will apply, don't bring the emergency services along with you in free roam, don't kill other players, race clean and respect the other racers.... Basically don't be a bellend.

A 2 player team time trial in the off-road class. One teammate must take a car / truck (anything with 4 wheels other than a quad-bike), the other takes a motor bike. Teams will be drawn when we have enough players, recent winning pairs excluded (Me & Ally CC 258, Me & Schumi CC 256, DC & Rammstein CC254).
