Strafing with sniper tips please

So I made a post not too long ago regarding PS3 being able to strafe while snipping. After putting blood, sweat and tears into attempting to master it, I ended up switching back to sniping while stationary. I'm not good at timing my shots with double sticky analog sticks plus when I miss, I get shot in the face in return. Any tips?

A quadratic function can be written in vertex form:

f(x) = a( x-h )^2 + k          *^2 means squared*

The vertex form is helpful because it tells you the location of the vertex (h,k); (x,y)

It's tough. Especially when your target is doing the same. Just takes practice. When i first started i also changed it back because it just wasn't working out. But now i love it. You need to try and move both analog sticks at around the same speed to try and keep the scope in the same spot.

I'm not great at it. I get involved in these battles against my better judgement, but usually know when to walk away.

On PS4 you can go into FPV and strafe even faster, but of course that's not possible on PS3.

As with anything - practice makes perfect.

However, I probably wouldn't bother trying to out-shuffle someone on PS3, too many character mods such a 1.5x run speed.

Taking in both your advice, true that there's going to be a high chance that I'm fighting against modders, and that it takes practice, however I have to deal with sticky analog sticks on both analogs. Let just say, I sometimes miss my shots because of it and a clear sign that I do have it is if my character walks in circles when AFK.

If your control is broken then there isn't much advice to give except to replace it.

As for sniping, do what works best for you. If you are more accurate standing still, then do that, you just need to make a kill shot before them (duh :P). Strafing can help and should be learnt as well though.

As DC said, on PS4 in first person, you move a lot quicker which obviously makes it quiet difficult to hit the enemy but at the same time its fairly difficult for the enemy to time the shots while moving so quick.

The technique I use which works best for me is to use the right stick to aim anywhere near their head (body is easier but does less damage) on the horizontal axis and then strafe back and forth across their head. Strafing moves slower than the right aiming stick so its easier to be more accurate. The hard part is timing when to shoot but that just takes practice.

Another tip is to not be predictable in your movements. Don't hold left for 2 seconds then right for 2 seconds and so on. Instead go left for half a second then right for 2, left for 1 and so on. Start to practice this after you have got your timing down and pay attention to what you enemy is doing so you can predict where they will be.

Once you have that down, on ps4 at least, you can go into first person which speeds the strafing up and makes it harder to time shots (for both shooter and enemy) but if you can master that, you end up being pretty unstoppable.

Hopefully that makes sense and helps out other people as well.
