Mullertime 13
Hello all, FIrst of thanks to Vish for the playlist last night was fun, free aim was cool, tho I died about 6 times on the 1st deathmatch before I realised it was free aim, plenty of swearing at the ps4 for refusing to lock on to the target. Will the free aim PL's be a more regular thing ? If so any tips on controller settings for aiming, I still play default settings but any help would be appreciated as I was 'spray n pray' last night. There was a moment in the game were I thouht I was getting the hang of it, I killed about 4 people on the bounce in a matter of seconds, I could feel the adrelaline starting to pump with pride as each enemy dropped dead, as I waited for the 'kill streak' message to appear, I could feel myself transforming into a GTA rambo or a clone of Danni-elle, a 1 person army enemies fear. No 'kill streak' message appeared tho and a quick look at the info in the bottom left corner reading, ' skasaint killed whoever' ' skasaint killed so an so' ' skasaint is on a rampage', and then a quick 180" turn and there was skasaint 3 steps behind me killing everyone I thought I was killing, like a GTA guardian angel. I ventured out on my own and normal service resumed, dead within seconds. I need to recapture the feeling of those few seconds when i believed I was 'on fire'.
Jesse 867
Make sure your aim sensitivity is set right. Adjust it a few times to see what's the best fit for you. I've spend some time in the shooting range this month for the crew challenges and I'm pretty sure that it has helped me with free aiming, so you could try that

You can also try doing some Gang Attacks or Missions for practice.
ScottyB 2,086
I'm interested in trying free aim too, how did you think it went? I think I will do it for my PL this week
ronin 596
Yesterday during the PL, I turned the aim sensitivity a few notches down and that seemed to help a bit. Also learned that in FA, combat rolling is nowhere near as effective then in AA.
ronin 596
I'm interested in trying free aim too, how did you think it went? I think I will do it for my PL this week Had never done it before until yesterday and quite frankly, it went surprisingly well. Still got my arse whooped as always, but it was very enjoyable. Also found it to be more intense then a AA TDM. Maybe because it was the first time and as we know, the first time always makes you a bit nervous and overly focussed... Pretty much all the TDM's were with assault rifles of some sort as the standard weapon. I think that also helped greatly. With these you could spray bullets and hope one or two would hit the target Pistol only might have been too big a step, for me at least.

I want to practice in free aim as it will help with those situations and also when you are out of locking range and also with the sniper.
DavidCore89 7,404
Free aim - low sensitivity. Assisted - high sensitivity. Rolling is not useless in freeaim, check out this Edited February 17, 2015 by DavidCore89
Danielle 3,007
With auto aim I have my sensitivity in the lower half, kinda halfway/just above for free aim and quite high for when I do the shooting range. So you have to play about with it and see what suits you best. I hope this becomes a regular thing it was very enjoyable

It has always seemed "too fast" for me and hard to control, but I got used to it. I'll try it lower and see if I do better in deathmatches. Definitely going to practice more in free-aim. Skasaint 31
Sorry Mullertime hehe, that usually happens to me ! As mentioned loads of times the free aim was a good new challenge and i found it most enjoyable. Hopefully it will be repeated. Thanks Vishesh

shadowvan 33
I would advise not using your zoom too often. My personal tip is to use x and keep moving. When you slow down to take aim, you're an easy headshot. Aim for the shoulders and always move around. I have my sensitivity around 75-80ish, just enough to reposition without moving too far away from target. I've been playing free aim nearly since release. Just figured out you can turn off the blur from draw distance, and that really helps a lot. Hindered me quite a bit when I couldn't see who was shooting me
DavidCore89 7,404
No need to slow down to take aim - free aim GTA is all about control of the R2 button, you must keep it semi-pressed so you can shoot and run at the same time without the use of L2 (which will slow you down). I've been playing free aim nearly since release. Just figured out you can turn off the blur from draw distance, and that really helps a lot. Hindered me quite a bit when I couldn't see who was shooting me Yeah, field of view is awful for combat situations.
ScottyB 2,086
What did you guys play on, where you all free aim or free aim assisted? I hosted this for my PL and it was pretty cool. Problem is, i had it set to free aim assisted and others who joined and had not played free aim before got put to free aim and was unable to change it to assisted. Im pretty sure Auto aim -partial is the same as free aim- assisted, Can someone clarify this if they already know? Either way as you can imagine this was a massive advantage to those who had the assisted setting on.. I think they should have it as true free aim and that's it. Torrid 653
I thought there were only three levels, free aim, assisted aim which I use, and then traditional GTA which is the strongest auto aim. Assisted aim and Traditional GTA can be in the same lobby/jobs, but free aim uses a separate lobby and job system. If you ever join one without changing your setting to free aim you'll get an on screen warning asking if you want to continue because it will change your aiming style. I wouldn't mind trying free aim again sometime. I played only free aim for about three months straight back before I was part of the crew, but most people I know used some form of auto aim, so I went to assisted aim for the happy medium. Free Aim Assisted will lock on but not track the target.

Free aim assisted and regular free aim are both allowed in the same lobby. It's stupid that the game will allow it. I guess it's the same with assisted (partial/full). There will be people that use assisted, I can't find a way to stop that as the game feels that it's acceptable to mix the styles. It has obvious advantages, but when the host says free aim then it should be exactly that, not assisted. Danielle 3,007
Yeah seems unfair? I haven't tried free aim assisted so not sure how much of an advantage it gives. I would hope people have the decency to either go full free aim or stick to auto aim if they can't do that. I guess it's the same situation as BPH, what the host says goes.

Yeah it's stupid, and what's worse is that the only way to change it is to back out into story mode. Free aim assisted locks on to the target for a second which is enough to be able to get a headshot so it helps a great deal. When I hosted it I had it set to free aim assisted and assumed everyone would get the same settings. I think it depends if you have tried free aim assisted in story mode before. I guess something to be mindful of and make sure everyone's settings are the same.

Pb76 3,952
I can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo on auto-aim, let alone attempting free aim.
