Smurf 947
Here is a quick fix so that your external Hard drive is not recognized as a USB 2.0 https://community.playstation.com/content/pdc/us/en_US/pdc-communities/support/Consoles-Peripherals.topic.html/i_am_experiencinger-Mz63.html The benefits of a external USB 3.0 hard drive to the PS4 you can: More install games from the internal hard drive to the external hard drive instead of 3 downloading or vice versa. "For eg. It moved GTA V game in 15 minutes to the external hard drive." You could carry the external hard drive to a friend's house and play the games on it via entering your log in information into their PlayStation. If all your games are on the external hard drive you wont have any issue initializing your PS4 if need be, though you will have to save your games, captured video and pictures to a USB because it only accepts installed application's atm. It runs equally as fast as the internal hard drive but sometimes comparing loading time,it loads quicker. I recently purchased a Bridge controller with the JMicron jms567 chip on the PCB board, instead of a regular USB 3.0 enclosure. It was hella cheap from the company compared to an encloser from a popular hdd company that burns out because they cheap out on the chip, & charge you three times more. Make sure that your enclosure has (UASP) in the specifications for fast read/ write speeds. I had to put electrical tape over the 2 middle USB pins to get it to format on the PS4, make sure not to cover any of the other three in back, shine a light to see. I would suggest getting JMicron jms578 Bridge controller if your taking my route, but the JMS567 works fine for me. Pretty sure it will Outlast a lot of big brands x4.
