G37 3,445
Was pretty proud of this one. Beat Zig and SteadyMyNinja (guy's racing record is like 6000-3000 .. yeah, that's a TON). He's insanely good. Don't have the video of another race from another night (Muscle In) where DC beat all of us, that guy included, and some other racers AND broke his own world record. 1 Quote "If you ride like lightning, you're gonna crash like thunder." - The Place Between The Pines
no_snacks 3,345
Any win against SteadyMyNinja is worth 10 against anybody else. Great job G. I once had the pleasure of beating him too, even though it was a gifted win. (SteadyMyNinja and Demonic_Puffy took each other out & on the last lap. They both went flying off the freeway & had to re-spawn lol) Under normal circumstances, those guys could probably lap me on a single lap race. That session was my first experience racing with other xDBx members & I was surprised by how quick some of you are. You also whipped our arses on another bike race in that session (can't remember which one). You seem pretty comfortable on 2 wheels.
DavidCore89 7,404
Any of you guys notice that SteadyMyNinja uses off road wheels on every car?... For me and other racers, that changes things. I could put those on too and get at least an extra second per lap on most tracks, but I'd rather my cars didn't look like shit. There are some on my PSN list that I have never beaten, even on my own tracks, keeping up with them is an accomplishment for me . Cool video! On the subject of off-road tyres, is there a crew policy regarding them? I have them fitted to all my race cars but I hate the look of them too. Most members of my old crew use them, so I did too. (notice how I didn't say other crew....xDBx is my only crew now) Regarding those super quick racers, I try to keep up with them as much as possible. I'm always hoping to learn some new tricks or racing lines from them. The trouble is, after the 2nd or 3rd corner I can't see them anymore. So it is a decent enough difference in lap times with them? Why is that? Is it cause they concrete surf or what? It does look stupid but if it is that much quicker then it may be worth it? The thing is with these guys, they have played over 8000 races or something ridiculous so they would have each track memorised and would no exactly the right line to take and the short cuts. They obviously are still very good, but all these little tricks make them that much faster.
no_snacks 3,345
The off-road tyres don't really help with curb boosting. I actually think they might lessen the effect if anything. Where they do help is crossing over the curbs on corners. They offer a much smoother ride & limit the amount of bounce, especially in Super & Sport Cars. They allow you to attack the curbs at the apex without the fear of skipping sideways or spinning out too often. Tuner tyres & Muscle Car tyres do a similar thing but to a lesser extent. Off-road tyres are by far the most effective. I saw a video which shows the difference between off-road tyres & stock tyres. It's quite a noticeable difference. I'll post it here if I can find it. EDIT. BTW, all of the different types of tyres offer the same level of grip & performance on flat tarmac. So it's only the ride that differs between them. (I think there is still some debate whether off-road tyres give more grip on dirt) EDIT 2. Here's the video from Broughy1322. (I think there is still some debate whether off-road tyres give more grip on dirt) That makes sense.. So many times I spin out or will be negatively effected by hitting the curbs and or bumps. On most races I always think of the best way to approach a turn as hitting the curb throws you out a fair bit. I just choose whatever rims I like and the tyres go with it. It's a shame that they have that. They should make the performance suffer on road with tyres as that's what would happen IRL.. Oh well
