Squirrel 5,180
Hi Guys, The PC release date has just been announced as the 28th of March. Are there going to be enough people from the crew interested in extending their play to the PC and if so would the crew forum be extended to cover play on that system? Graphically I'm expecting a massive improvement, the system specs already show that there will be 4K support as well as multi-screen options. PS4 & Xbox One are based on a 32 bit system while the PC version will be using 64 bit so there will be a huge increase in the amount of action possible on screen. I remember from my BF3 days that the PC version could handle double the players, if it's the same for GTA then we could see sessions of 60 people or more. However there is an ugly side to PC gaming. Mods and glitchers already plague the consoles, this is only done by a select few with physically modified equipment. On the PC though anybody can install mods without hardware changes. This made playing Battlefield online an unpleasant experience if you joined a server that was running mods. Hopefully we can host our own servers and control what happens within our sessions to avoid this. Game mods are not always a bad thing, I've been using those in single player PC games for quite a while. I generally only use graphic mods that enhance the game play rather than mods that alter the way you play a game. Who wants to use the standard skyrim armour when you could download some incredible works of art and use them instead. I'm hoping the content creator will be enhanced even more. If mods are permissible there will be no limit on what props could be made and added to the game. Larger or smaller ramps, improved cover, more vehicles, anything would be possible. My professional background is working as a 3D CAD designer. I have all the software needed to create props for games. If this is something worth pursuing then I will be investing in the PC version. DavidCore89 7,404
I think expanding to PC is something that we're talking over right now, it would be a huge step and I'm sure it would involve a lot of work to prepare the website for that, not to mention senior members to ensure things are being run correctly. The modding worries me, it will be a matter of time before someone drags the XDBX name through the dirt due to their mods. I think the vast majority that want this game on PC are intending on modding anyway, R* don't care, it's yet more money in their pockets. With GTAV PC minimum specs still not released, I think there will be a large number of PC gamers that can't run the game. How many here have top of the line PC's? I don't mean 1 or 2 year old hardware either because that won't handle it. I used to do quite a bit of PC gaming, mostly BF3, but the community is much different to that on a console. Matty 745
I think my rig will just about run it but modders are going to quite literally turn it into a shit show. I'm not talking about people that mod a few visuals, which is harmless, but the dicks who'll turn gravity off mid race and cause massive explosions that crash the system. You would have to forever be in a crew or private session.
Pb76 3,952
I had a PC once. (Might be in a cupboard somewhere.)
Squirrel 5,180
I'm one of those people who would get the PC version in order to use custom props and graphic models. I have no interest in instant kills and shooting through walls. It takes the fun and indeed the point of playing from a game. I would like more freedom to create things within the content creator and the PC version might just give me that. I would love to be part of a crew that was involved with creating epic events. .... With GTAV PC minimum specs still not released, I think there will be a large number of PC gamers that can't run the game. How many here have top of the line PC's? I don't mean 1 or 2 year old hardware either because that won't handle it. The specs have just been released today as well: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/52374/gtav-pc-new-release-date-first-screens-and-system-specs My laptop is a year old but it's more than powerful to handle anything required, Serious PC gamers to tend to keep updated with hardware as well. JustHatched 12,123
And don't get me wrong Squirrel, feel free to discuss the PC version all you want (and who ever else), just don't post how to mod/hack/glitch the game. As far as changing the forum, if we were officially expanding then yeah the forum would be altered, but it was discussed some time ago and we decided to stick with Playstation only. That said, and as has been said, no one will be kicked from the crew for playing the PC over Playstation, but we won't be accepting new members from the PC, so an XDBX presence on PC will be quite small. DavidCore89 7,404
Lol they pushed back the release date, good old R*! I guess that the minimum specs won't be very smooth on this game, the difference between minimum and recommended is huge. Squirrel 5,180
Obviously it will be a waiting game to see what happens. I can't see rockstar being able to implement anything to stop modders having free reign in the game. Will be interesting to see how they manage their servers in terms of what people can do. The last GTA game I played on the PC was San Andreas, the standard models for cars were very generic, was great to import the actual real car models in. I'm only interested in the PC version for the creative side anyway, I prefer console gaming for my day to day life. Can't beat this community either though so wouldn't want to stop playing with the crew. If only it was possible to design props on the PC and import them into the PS4... Drew_Watkins 51
I severely lack the money for a PC to play it, but I'm very interested to see the visual mods and possibility of modding in content creator. The content creator could be a game changer for GTAO. Having the ability to create and import your own objects and job definitions could lead to endless creative exploits.
